Why Does Gumloop Say “Sign-Ins From [Domain] Are Not Permitted” When I Try to Log In?

Last updated: May 26, 2026

Gumloop blocks sign-ins from a fixed list of email domains — including proton.me, disposable email services, and other domains flagged for abuse. If you see this error, you'll need to sign in (or sign up) with a different email address. If you changed your existing account email to a blocked domain and are now locked out, contact support so we can move your account to an allowed email on our side.

What You'll See

  • The sign-in page returns the error Sign-ins from {your-domain} are not permitted (for example, Sign-ins from proton.me are not permitted).

  • The same domain shows a similar error during sign-up: Sign-ups from {your-domain} are not permitted.

  • This happens regardless of whether you use email/password, Google, or Microsoft sign-in — the block is applied to the email address itself, not the sign-in method.

Why This Happens

Gumloop maintains a blocklist of email domains that aren't permitted to access the platform. The list covers domains historically associated with spam, abuse, and account-recovery issues, as well as anonymous and disposable mail providers. proton.me is on this list.

The block applies at both sign-up and sign-in, so an existing account whose email was changed to a blocked domain will also be locked out the next time it tries to sign in.

How to Fix It

If You're Signing Up for the First Time

Use any non-blocked email address — a work email, Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, or another mainstream provider all work. Sign up the same way at gumloop.com/sign-in using that address. There is no per-account override for blocked domains.

If You Already Have an Account and Just Changed Your Email to a Blocked Domain

Self-serve recovery is not possible from this side, because you can't sign back in to change the email yourself. There is one thing worth trying first, then the support path:

  1. Try your original sign-in method. If you originally signed in with Google or Microsoft, that identity provider may still be linked to your account under your original email. Go to gumloop.com/sign-in, choose Continue with Google (or Microsoft), and make sure you select your original account in the provider's chooser — not the new blocked-domain account. If this works, you're back in, and you can update your account email under Settings → Profile → General to an allowed address before signing out.

  2. If that doesn't work, contact support. Email support@gumloop.com with:

    • The blocked email address currently on your account.

    • The email you'd like the account moved to (any non-blocked address).

    • How you originally signed in (Google, Microsoft, or email/password) — this helps us re-link the right identity provider.

Support will update the email on our side so you can sign back in.

How to Avoid This in the Future

When updating your account email under Settings → Profile → General, only change it to an address you've actually used before and that isn't on a blocked-domain list. The change takes effect on your next sign-in — if the new email is blocked, you won't find out until you're already locked out.

How Do I Know It Worked?

You reach the Gumloop home page after sign-in. If you went through the support path, your account email under Settings → Profile → General now shows the new allowed address.
